Washington, DC, July 4th, 2009 - Ordia Solutions, the leading supplier of integrated, interoperable, real-time command & control systems for first responders announces the successful deployment by the American Red Cross of the Mobile Tactical Collaboration System™ (MTCS) 2009 software integrated with AdvanTraq™ GPS personal locator devices during the 2009 Independence Day celebration in Washington, DC.

The July 4th festivities in Washington routinely draw crowds of several hundred thousand people to the National Mall.  The day’s events included a parade, live music, food festival, and the evening fireworks display.  Throughout the day, Red Cross professionals and volunteers provide food, water, and emergency medical assistance to event goers in need.  Typically, high summertime heat and humidity in Washington cause several incidents of heat exhaustion and dehydration among the crowd.  The Red Cross helps protect public safety and health by providing auxiliary emergency medical assistance to local first-responders.

Red Cross supervisors used the Ordia Solutions system to develop and share a common operating picture at both the Red Cross mobile command post and also at the Multi-Agency Command Center (MACC), where information could quickly be shared with other partner agencies including the Metropolitan Police Department, US Park Police, FEMA, and the National Park Service.  Additionally, the Red Cross fitted its 30 mobile field teams with AdvanTraq™ GPS device, which provided real-time resource location information to supervisors and inter-agency partners during the event.
